Thankful Thursday...on a THURSDAY!

Stop the presses! For the first time in weeks, somebody actually got her game together on a Thursday. Congratulations, self!

Today I am thankful for...

• the grace and blessings of the good Lord above
• my family, friends, and a new fella who makes me smile on an hourly basis
• the health of my loved ones and my own health...I take that for granted far too often
• my job, my coworkers, and the fun kiddos I get to spend my days with
• Monday morning prayer group
• a roof over my head, clean running water, food to eat, a car that runs, electricity, shoes on my feet, clothes to wear...I am very, very blessed
• an upcoming trip to God's country (aka-Auburn, AL) and a fun little date-for-three in the works
• a healthy, handsome new baby boy for Sheila and James...Little Man was SO worth the wait :)
• tomorrow being the last day of my morning duty for several months
• getting to catch up with some dear friends this week
• our walking-club-for-two starting back up today...it only took nearly 2 months, but we finally got it started :)
• a clean little home
• less humidity and cooler temperatures...upper 80s are considerably more pleasant than upper 90s
• the sooner-than-soon arrival of fall...I'm fall's #1 fan and proud of it

Where were you?

I spend some time every year on September 11th talking with my students about the events of that day. They usually want to know where I was and what I remember, so I share that story with them. In the past, students have wanted to share what they remember about that day. Today, as I had my September 11th sit-down with them, I heard the following comments:

"I remember seeing all that on TV. [Yeah right, says the teacher.] My mom was feeding me in my highchair."
"My dad told me I started crawling that day."
"I wasn't even born for 3 more days!"

Wow. Time really does fly.

Thankful Thursday, Friday-style

One day, one day, I'm going to get it together on a Thursday. Maybe.

Today I am thankful for...

• the never-ending, often surprising grace of the good Lord
• my family and friends
• my health, and the health of my loved ones
• the long-awaited, much-anticipated return of my voice...I have never gone completely mute like I did last week, and I hope to never do that again
• my job, the students I have the privilege of teaching, and the people I work with
• an entirely unexpected series of events this week...makes me smile and shake my head in wonder
• a three-day weekend
• a roof over my head, food to eat, clothes to wear, clean running water, electricity, a car to get around in, shoes on my feet
• the start of September, which means fall can't be too far away, even though it was 98 today...it's coming, folks, and this girl can't WAIT
• a successful Parent Academy last night, and an end to the nighttime school meetings for a while
• a clean little home
• a three-day weekend
• my super comfortable bed, and a chance to catch up on my sleep this weekend
• my beloved Auburn Tigers kicking off their season tomorrow...they're gonna have to do it without me, but I'll be cheering at the TV and can't wait!
