The temperature was nearly 100 by the time we made our way to the parade route, but we were (blessedly) able to find a spot in the shade. The parade started an hour later than we thought it would, so we had plenty of time to chitchat and wander around. We also had plenty of time to people-watch. Are you a people-watcher? I am. I could keep myself entertained for hours just watching people and wondering what their lives are like.
{I so love old houses. I had to restrain myself from knocking on the door and asking to see the inside.}
{the 3 Musketeers...love 'em}
{beautiful Clydesdales}
{I got so tickled at these guys, just chillin' in lawn chairs in the back of an old truck.}
{Yep, it's a racing lawnmower.}
We had a great time. This was such a quintessential Southern, small-town affair. I love where I live.
No mules in the parade?
ReplyDeleteGotta love the small town south.
Haha, Val! There actually were mules there but most of those pictures didn't turn out any good. The picture under the one of the Clydesdales is the only decent one I got of the mules. I promise they were there, though :)

So this is why I want to pack up and move to a small town! What fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd, my dad used to just walk up and knock on someone's door if he wanted to see their house. Yes, once we were walking in their neighborhood and I commented on this house and mentioned that I would really love to see the inside. To my horror, he marched right up, knocked on the door and ask for a tour. He was just friendly and goofy like that.
Have a restfulSunday.

Winfield has a mule day too!! I heard that the new doctors and lawyers in town have to walk behind scooping the poo. Is that true?!?!
ReplyDeleteAnnesta, your story about your dad cracked me up! I don't have the guts to do that, but it absolutely sounds like something Mimi would do :) I hope you enjoyed your weekend, and I'm glad you stopped by!

Lauren, I guess that's kind of like hazing for the "new kids in town"! There were definitely poo scoopers, but I'm not sure how they earned that honor :) I have so enjoyed your blog the last couple of days...keep writing! And thanks for stopping by!

So fun! You need to bring your camera this weekend and teach me some technique! I can't wait to see you. And thank goodness for blogs that keep us updated with each other :)
ReplyDeleteLA, you would've gotten a kick out of Mule Day. Oh, and you better believe my camera will be in attendance for FriendFest 2011. Can't. Wait.

My sister goes to the Mule Day in Winfield for the crafts. She thought that was the only one around..learn new stuff everyday with blogs ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the boy in one of your pics with the mohawk..Funny!
Kristi, I keep hearing about the Mule Day in Winfield, so that may be next on my list of adventures. I never imagined that one of my hobbies would be attending Mule Days statewide :) A lady sitting near us commented on the boy's mowhawk, and his grandad said that was his summer haircut. He said the boy got it done after school on the last day :)
