Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for...
  • the awe-inspiring grace of God
  • my lovely family and friends
  • my health
  • the health of my loved ones
  • my job, and the summer break it provides me
  • summer break, which is going by a smidge too quickly for my taste
  • plenty of food to eat, clean water to drink, a roof over my head, clothes to wear, shoes on my feet, a car that runs every time I start it, electricity
  • air conditioning
  • my Bubba's successful wisdom teeth surgery this morning...I'm glad he's feeling okay and won't even hold it against him that he texted me about the surgery while he was, ahem, sitting in the dentist's chair
  • two lovely houseguests this week...one of the college roommate variety, and one of the college roommate's toddler daughter variety...I have a newfound respect for mothers of wee ones, and I enjoyed the stink out of their visit this week. Come back soon, Kira and Elizabeth!
  • some killer new books from the library...I'll report back as soon as I finish them
  • 65 days until football season kicks off :)
  • fun Fourth of July plans...it's hands-down one of my favorite holidays
  • a well-deserved week off for Annesta next week...enjoy it, friend!
  • a so-far successful "no mo' pudge" campaign for Lauren...homegirl makes me laugh, and I wish we lived close enough to hang out on the regular!
  • Suzy's recipes this week: Chik and Taters and Chicken Crunch
  • one more glorious month of summer break until I head back to work...you better believe I plan to wallow around in every beautiful second of it!

HAPPY WEEKEND, yall!

  1. Hey Julie!
Did you blog about the book "The Most They Ever Had"? I read that this week. It was moving. My grandad came to Texas from Alabama in a covered wagon. Reading the book made me wonder how life would have been so different had his family stayed and worked in a mill. It was a good read.
I liked reading your friends blog. I too have been on a campaign to lose some weight...I chuckled and was inspired at the same time. I have been having some health issues that have kept me from exercising since Easter. I haven't written about it because.....well, you know...if you don't talk about it or write about it then it's not really happening....right???? Yeah, I think it's called d-e-n-i-a-l!! I'm having an MRI next week, so when I talk to the dr. again, I will probably blog about then.
I can't wait to read about your Fourth of July weekend! Enjoy!
    Hugs,

  2. Annesta, I did blog about that book! Rick Bragg is one of my favorite authors, and I"m so glad you liked the book. His stories aren't sunshiney and chipper, but they're mesmerizing. I had no idea your grandad came from Alabama! It's interesting to think of how different our lives would be if our predecessors had made different choices.

I will definitely add a prayer for you with your health situation and I look forward to reading about it if you decide to share. ENJOY your Fourth of July and your week off!!
